What is MonitorGO®?

About MonitorGO®

monitorgo-teamThe company was formed in June 2013 to research better alternatives to the standard pendant alarm available in the UK for the last 30 years. This research took in the United States, Scandinavia, Israel and France as we looked at alternative systems.

We saw some good products and some innovative companies, but none matched up to the full check list of deliverables which we had set for ourselves. We wanted a system that was fully flexible and was not tied to the home. We wanted a system which would encourage independence, and discourage dependency. We wanted to put the wearer in charge. We needed to include both fall detection and unconsciousness alert systems. We needed GPS location to help in the event of the user becoming lost or being unable to say their location. And we wanted the system to be affordable.

Our vision for something better

Despite our diligent world-wide research, we could not find a product which could match our ‘wish list’ within one system. So we decided to build our own system here in West Yorkshire. By September we had undertaken the first feasibility study, and we were starting to test in the laboratory individual components of the software cocktail which would sit within the MonitorGO® device.

The delivery of the first working MonitorGO® devices came on an auspicious date – Friday December 13th 2013 – we continued product development and testing from this time and were able to launch the MonitorGO® system commercially in late 2014. Our hopes of making a difference are high. We take inspiration from the words of Henry Ford – “If you think you can, or if you think you can’t, you’re right.”

We understand that with such a device comes responsibility and we are committed to providing the most reliable, meaningful device that we can. We believe in continuous improvement and are developing the software all the time to make sure it continues to meet the needs of the people using it and their families. We are members of the Telecare Services Association (TSA) and the UK Telehealthcare Group (UKTHC) who demand high standards in the assistive technology industries.
